The iCoToBa J-Ambassador course encourages students to consider their own culture, and express their ideas about Japan clearly in English. This semester Aichi Prefectural University coordinated with JICA Chubu, to provide students in the J-Ambassador Course with an opportunity to introduce and discuss elements of Japanese culture with twelve Mexican trainees currently undergoing training at JICA.

　 Kendai students were responsible for the planning, preparation and implementation of a 90-minute workshop, held at JICA Chubu on July 16^th. Students worked in groups to briefly introduce an example of Japanese popular culture, and lead discussion related to their topic. Topics included yurukyara, machikon, cosplay, sumo, idol groups and festivals. Discussions were animated and flowed smoothly as participants asked questions and shared opinions.

　The event was a great success and is hopefully the beginning of many such cooperative events between Aichi Prefectural University and JICA Chubu in the future. (Fern Edebohls, Lecturer in English )

iCoToBa J-Ambassadorの授業では、学生ひとりひとりが日本の文化について考え、英語で明確に意見を述べることが大切だと考えています。今学期、愛知県立大学はJICA中部の協力を得て、J-Ambassadorの授業の一環として、JICA中部のメキシコ人研修生12名に日本の文化について紹介し、ディスカッションを行う機会を持ちました。

7月16日にJICA中部で開催された90分のワークショップの企画、準備、実施のすべてを学生が担当し、当日はグループに分かれて、日本のポップカルチャーの簡単な紹介後、「ゆるきゃら」「街コン」「コスプレ」「相撲」「アイドルグループ」「祭り」など関連したトピックについてのディスカッションを行いました。

学生もJICA研修生も積極的に質問や意見の交換を行い、ワークショップは大成功のうちに終了しました。今後も愛知県立大学とJICA中部が連携し、このような共同イベントをたくさん開催できればと思います。
